What happens when you cancel
Once your site is live, canceling before your 12-month term is up settles the whole months left on the term at the monthly rate set out in the Terms of Service, and your site files become yours once that payment clears and you have signed the short delivery receipt we send you. If you have not approved your site yet there is nothing to settle: the guarantee covers you instead. If we cannot build a site you approve, your first month is refunded, and payments from month two on are not. After the first year it is month-to-month with 30 days notice and no fee. Once your site is live, nothing you have already paid is refunded: inside the term, canceling settles the whole months left as set out above, and after the term it simply stops future charges.
Two things worth knowing before you send it:
- Canceling inside your first year settles the same months as owning your site early, but it is not the same deal. Settling the whole months left on the term is what hands the files over on either path; owning early keeps your service running, so if you just want the files, ask for that instead. You are not paying for months of nothing; you are paying off the redesign you are taking with you.
- You do not have to leave to own it. Settling is the same figure whether you go or stay (if you hold referral credit, leaving puts it against the settlement and staying puts it against your later months), and staying keeps your site hosted and looked after for the rest of the year you have already paid for. If that is what you actually want, say so in the box below and we will set it up that way instead.
If you have approved your site but it is not live yet, nothing is refunded and nothing is settled: you can end your subscription with 30 days’ notice, nothing further is charged, no settlement figure is raised, and the site files stay with us.
Our published cancellation method, for the record: “To cancel, use the cancellation form on our website, and we confirm it in writing.” That is this form, and the written confirmation comes to your email.
If you settle and leave inside the term, our hosting ends and you have 30 days from the transfer to move your site; after the term, your site stays live through any period you have already paid for. Your domain, your content, your photos, your reviews, your customer data and your Google Business Profile are yours throughout and are not affected by canceling.
